Dogs and cats found in distress
A pair of Brantford residents have been charged with causing unnecessary suffering to animals after police found more than two dozen uncared for dogs and a dead cat in their home. Brantford police said officers responded to a home on D’Aubigny Road, just off Colborne Street West, for reports of an animal in distress Wednesday. Inside, police found 23 dogs — including one “in need of immediate assistance” — and four cats, one of which was dead. Police said the uncared for animals were removed from the home and taken to the Brant County SPCA. Two residents, a 45-year-old man and 18-year-old woman, were arrested and charged with causing unnecessary suffering to animals and causing damage or injury to animals.
