Time for a change on urban expansion

Every day we read and hear about the dangers of climate change and how we have to save and protect our environment. Yet in Saturday’s paper, the frontpage headline was about a real estate firm that sprayed toxic chemicals on a farmer’s field to destroy it, and if that were not enough, added insult to injury by plowing it under so they can move forward with building some huge monstrosity on the land, also destroying a wetland in the process. And the front page of the GO section the story is about developers who want to rip out the beautiful little Sunset Gardens to build houses. Enough is enough!

Who gives these people permission to pull off these things? City council? Think it’s time for a change! The city recently conducted a survey about urban expansion and from what I see nobody is for it. Are they going to listen? Doubt it. As Sonny and Cher sang, “The beat goes on.”
