Dundas hit-and-run victim remains in hospital

A pedestrian struck in east Hamilton on Tuesday remains in critical condition, while police call on the driver to turn himself in. On Tuesday at about 5:30 p.m., Hamilton police and emergency services responded to a collision involving a Hyundai Santa Fe SUV and a pedestrian on Mount Albion Road, just north of Hixon Road. The driver was going north on Mount Albion Road when he lost control and mounted the sidewalk, hitting a 55-year-old woman, police said in a release. Paramedics previously reported the woman was in her 20s. Police say the driver left the vehicle and spoke to witnesses before leaving on foot west toward Lawrence Road. The woman remains in hospital. Police are calling on the driver to seek legal advice and turn himself in at a police station. The suspect is described as a Caucasian male who is six feet tall with a shaved head and stocky build. He was reported to be wearing a pink T-shirt and shorts. Police ask anyone with information who hasn’t spoken to police to call the collision reconstruction unit at 905-546-4755 or 905546-4753.
