NAME: Adrienne Roberts

PARTY: NDP

AGE: 46 OCCUPATION: Teacher RESIDENCE: Brantford PAST POLITICAL EXPERIENCE: NDP candidate for Haldimand-Norfolk in 2019 HAVE YOU BEEN VACCINATED? Yes

IF ELECTED, I PLEDGE TO: “My focus is always on our community. As the future MP for Brantford-Brant, I recognize that there is much still to be done in the community. My work with BSUN (Brantford Substance User Network) and other advocacy groups to tackle the opioid crisis has shown me how important it is that we fight for more supports: harm reduction, safe supply, counselling, housing and so much more. I have pledged to my community to demand more as we focus on ending the opioid crisis. Too many have died. As a teacher, I am passionate about education and will demand more access to it, including for students who live on territory. Education is an investment and I will always fight for access to education for everyone. I will work hard to ensure that people receive the supports that they need: pharmacare, housing, and health services. I am fighting for you.”

NAME: Larry Brock PARTY: Conservative Party of Canada

AGE: 57 OCCUPATION: Assistant Crown Attorney (on leave of absence)

RESIDENCE: Brantford PAST POLITICAL EXPERIENCE: First run for elected office. Active volunteer in campaigns at the federal and provincial level for 10 years. HAVE YOU BEEN VACCINATED? Yes

IF ELECTED, I PLEDGE TO: “Rebuild the economy by offering targeted grants and loans to businesses to hire new workers and restore their own fiscal health. Make housing more attainable by encouraging construction of new homes and rental units; change mortgage rules to make it easier for families to get a mortgage. Address the opioid crisis by providing more help for addicts, while focusing police attention on dealers and traffickers. Treat mental health as a health issue. Make mentalhealth services easier to obtain and available to more people. Keep Canada’s international commitments to cut carbon use to combat human-caused climate change through a modified carbon price system that puts money in the pocket of consumers, more use of electric vehicles, limits on industrial emissions and other ways. Restore accountability to government by bringing in new, tougher anti-corruption laws.”

NAME: Alison Macdonald PARTY: Liberal Party of Canada

AGE: 47 OCCUPATION: Child protection, family and criminal lawyer RESIDENCE: Eagle Place, Brantford, and Six Nations PAST POLITICAL EXPERIENCE: This is my first time running for office, but I have previously volunteered with the local Liberal association. HAVE YOU BEEN VACCINATED? Yes, I am fully vaccinated.

IF ELECTED, I PLEDGE TO: “I have spent my career advocating on behalf of vulnerable people and have seen first-hand many of the challenges facing our community. Managing my own law practice on Six Nations has also shown me how the pandemic hurt many people and small businesses. My goal is to ensure that Canadians and small business owners have the financial and public health support they need to finish the fight against COVID-19. As the member of Parliament for Brantford-Brant, I would build on these experiences and work with the Liberal team to address mental health and homelessness in our downtown core and to ensure that every family can find an affordable home and quality child care. I am also fully committed to fighting climate change and to walking the path of reconciliation with the people of Brantford-Brant.”

NAME: Cole Squire

PARTY: People’s Party of Canada

AGE: 26 OCCUPATION: Student RESIDENCE: Six Nations Reserve

PAST POLITICAL EXPERIENCE: Studying political science at McMaster University HAVE YOU BEEN VACCINATED? Personal health information, what a horrible question to ask people.

IF ELECTED, I PLEDGE TO: “The PPC and I will save Canadian taxpayers upwards of $11 billion a year by defunding the CBC, ending corporate welfare, and stoping wasteful foreign development aid. We will continue helping other country’s in times of great need, but not to our own citizens detriment. Over the course of one mandate we will gradually abolish the personal capital gains tax saving Canadians an additional $7 billion per year, and lower corporate income tax rates from 15 per cent to 10 per cent, saving businesses $9.5 billion to raise employee wages or invest in R&D. The PPC will put an end to these disastrous lockdowns and vaccine passports while continuing to protect our most vulnerable populations. I’m also committed to ending the parentchild relationship between the federal government and our First Nations people. It’s time for a renewed relationship and for new beginnings. We will stop the criminalization of legal firearms owners in Canada and protect our citizens private property. We will abolish the federal carbon tax and return to a balanced budget, while eliminating inflation, making the cost of living much more affordable for all Canadians, especially those already struggling to get by.”
