Join the fight against poverty

This International Day for the Eradication of Poverty (Oct. 17) will be forever marked by an unprecedented rise in people living in extreme poverty due to COVID-19.

Currently, the estimated number of people living in poverty has increased by 120 million people. While our lives are negatively affected by COVID-19, those living in poverty continue to face further decreases in their quality of education, health care, nutrition and many other important aspects of life. Canada alone has seen a 39 per cent increase since the beginning of the pandemic with one in seven people living in poverty. The World Bank has estimated the line of extreme poverty rated as $2.40 per day.

This month, volunteers of the Results Hamilton Group are taking on Results Canada’s #EndPoverty Challenges: walking or running six kilometres a day, or eating the equivalent of $2.40 per day. Through these challenges, we want to raise money and awareness.

Join our #EndPoverty Challenge and take action to directly support the work of Results Canada and alleviate those struggling with poverty. Please consider donating to Results Canada and make an impact today by visiting bit.ly/EndPovertyChallenge.
