Comply with the Constitution

Regarding “Clearing homeless tents is unconstitutional, says Ontario court” (Feb. 2): This can also apply to Hamilton. I understand the homeless were kicked off the former Sir John A. Macdonald school grounds. There is even fencing provided that should satisfy some, to keep the problem contained. Why? Also there must be more vacant buildings owned by the city and the boards of education, that could be used to alleviate some homelessness. Providing access to warmth and shelter seems like the humane thing to do as well as complying with our Constitution. Steve Penner, Hamilton
