How will Renner’s accident impact ‘Mayor of Kingstown’?

Actor on the mend and could return for a third season

RICH HELDENFELS

You have questions. I have some answers.

Q What is going to happen to Season 2 of “Mayor of Kingstown” since Jeremy Renner’s accident?

A As has been reported, Renner — also know for playing Hawkeye in various Marvel productions — suffered numerous injuries in a snowplow accident in January. He had completed work on the second season of “Kingstown” before the accident. But the accident did lead to one change: a poster for the series which showed Renner’s character with facial injuries was modified to remove the injuries, to be sensitive to what Renner has gone through. He is on the mend, by the way, and the producers are planning for a third season if Paramount Plus gives the go-ahead. CinemaBlend reported that, if Renner has recovered, production could resume late this summer.

Q I haven’t seen a new episode of “Yellowstone” since Jan. 1. What’s happening? It’s one of the best shows on TV.

A As happens with a lot of shows, the Kevin Costner drama has split its current 14-episode season into two parts. The first eight aired, the last of the batch on Jan. 1, and the remaining six will arrive sometime this summer.

Q Was “American Idol” cancelled? I haven’t seen it On Demand at all.

A The competition will start a new season on Feb. 19. The most recent judging crew of Katy Perry, Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan are back along with Ryan Seacrest. This will be the sixth season on ABC; it aired on Fox for 15 seasons.

Q Last spring I came across the show “Collector’s Call” hosted by Lisa Whelchel on MeTV and saw it was in its third season. I would love to see previous episodes but can’t seem to find rebroadcasts on MeTV or any seasons available on any of the major streaming services. Is there a way I can currently view previous episodes of “Collector’s Call” and when does season 4 start? A I checked with MeTV and was told no one is streaming earlier episodes of the series showcasing popculture collections and the folks who have them. The fourth season is coming this spring, although there’s not a specific airdate yet.

Q I have watched “Sleepless in Seattle” numerous times and was wondering if the boy who played Tom Hanks’s son was in any other movies.

A Ross Malinger, 38, who played young Jonah Baldwin in the 1993 film, does not have a listed acting credit since 2006, and has reportedly worked in other businesses including automobile sales. But he had acted before “Sleepless” and afterward had roles in TV shows including “Seinfeld,” “Party of Five” and “Touched by an Angel.” His movie work included “Sudden Death” (1995) “Bye Bye Love” (1995), “Little Bigfoot” (1997) and “Personally Yours” (2000).

Q “They’ve given you a number and taken away your name.” Is the TV series “Secret Agent” available?

A “Secret Agent” had the Johnny Rivers-sung “Secret Agent Man” theme you quoted in American telecasts in 1965-66; it presented the adventures of the charismatic spy John Drake, played with great style by Patrick McGoohan. But the song and title were added to U.S. showings of episodes of a British series called “Danger Man,” and that title will lead you to episodes on streaming services including Freevee, Tubi and more. There’s also a DVD set of the complete “Danger Man.”
