Drop by the Spring Home and Garden Show this weekend or take in the Bulldogs’ first home playoff game on Sunday.

Don’t forget your rain boots this weekend. Environment Canada is calling for showers and daytime highs between 4 C and 13 C. Here are several things to keep you busy on the first weekend of April.

Home show

Hamilton’s Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum is closed this weekend for the Spring Home and Garden Show. The annual show features experts, demonstrations, displays and a wide selection of exhibitors and brands. Even if you aren’t looking to reno the backyard, the show is sure to help you get into that springtime vibe. Stage presentations include Live Birds of Prey Show, Massimo Capra, Anna Olson and more. Admission is $13 for adults and children under 12 are free. Donations for Hamilton Good Shepherd Food Bank. Hours are 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday. Craftadian

Over 80 artisans, vendors and workshops abound at the Craftadian Spring Market on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at McMaster Innovation Park, 175 Longwood Rd. S. Tickets are $4 or $5. Enjoy lively DJ tunes and gourmet food while you shop the best from Canadian designers, creators, makers and artisans.

Hold the gluten

A Gluten Free Goodness Expo is filled up with more than 40 vendors on Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Ancaster Fairgrounds, 630 Trinity Rd. gfgoodnessexpo.ca

Teen Tour Band

The Burlington Teen Tour Band perform Sunday at the Burlington Performing Arts Centre, 440 Locust St., Burlington. Along with the full ensemble, the always favourite features by the Colour Guard and the Drumline will take centre stage, along with the Burlington Junior Redcoats. Performances are at 2 and 7 p.m. Tickets are $32. BurlingtonPAC.ca

Tattoo and recruiting exhibition

The Hamilton Garrison Recruiting Exhibition and Tattoo is at the James Street North Armoury, 200 James St. N., from 1 to 5 p.m. on Saturday for a recruiting event topped with a tattoo. The free afternoon includes demonstrations of military music, skills and equipment. Performers include the bands of the Royal Hamilton Light Infantry (RHLI), the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders, the Royal Highland Fusiliers of Canada, HMCS Star, and the Schiehallion Dancers. There will also be displays from the artillery, signals, navy and field ambulance corps. The tattoo itself is from 3 to 4:30 p.m. The RHLI and Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders museums at the armoury will be open during the event.

Get sweet

Spring maple syrup events are starting to wrap up. If you haven’t tapped into the secrets of the maple tree, there are still events this weekend and next.

■ At Westfield Heritage Village, at 1049 Kirkwall Rd. in Rockton, Maple Syrup Season programs ends Sunday. Dress for the weather so you can stay warm for your two-hour visit. Advance reservations are required at WestfieldHeritage.ca

Looking ahead

■ Hamilton’s electric scooter launch event is Monday at 12:30 p.m. at city hall. Bird Canada will initially deploy 150 e-scooters and in coming weeks, will begin to ramp up to the maximum permitted 350 devices.

■ Free grab and go activity kits, theme is Dirt, are available for pick up from the Hamilton Museum of Steam and Technology over Easter weekend. Two kits per household. Email steammus@hamilton.ca to register now before they are gone.
